Sir Roger Bannister the man who first broke the four-minute mile barrier writes in his memoir:

Sir Roger Bannister, MD is a distinguished British neurologist who figured it out before the post-modern self-certified “teachers” of the Law of Attraction clamored that a belief is only a thought.
